Welcome to THE MANHATTAN PROJECT's Wikipedia!
Greetings and salutations, Internet wanderer! For those who meant to come here: welcome to The Manhattan Project's Wikipedia page! I hope that this compendium of knowledge is helpful in your application and playing process at the game. For those who are a bit clueless as to what this Wiki's purpose is, much less the concept of the RPG at large — well, we invite you to investigate this Wikipedia entry here and, unless otherwise intrigued by the Premise or any of the files within, to just let sleeping dogs lie. Really, it's a long story, dude. You're better off not knowing.
Update Bulletin:
- 28 February 2010: Many of the edits promised to the masses have been made as needed. Naturally, the moderator has probably Missed some things and will be added as reminded, but otherwise consider this a more Final Version of the Wiki!
- 14 February 2010: Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! The Wikipedia — and the game! — are going live in beta format. Check out the moderator journal for more information on the opening. Throughout the week, there will be cosmetic touches to some aspects of the files, so come back regularly to see if page X, Y, or Z have been updated with the correct information.
- 3 February 2010: I have a feeling that there may be a few more faces here than there were last time, so just reaffirming what is said below: still chugging along on the History section! Please tread carefully; as we gear towards announcing the game, a great deal of these files will be in flux!
- 1 January 2010: A considerable amount of questions have been added to the Play FAQ and the Concept FAQ has been created. First drafts of files for History are being added and shall morph with its subsequent FAQ! All the thanks to the questions I received in the CDJ for such thorough thoughtfulness!
- 1 November 2009: If you're reading this, you're doing me a big help by proofing stuff on the Play page and its subsequent linked info files! Although I really appreciate your work, a plea on my behalf that I probably spouted in the CDJ: please, please don't take anything in the OOC section as 100% set in stone! Such is the simultaneous benefit and detriment of being a beta tester: you get to see some of the bumps and lumps in my development of the game, so things such as rules and the like are up to change before the official launch date. In the same token of thought, however: if you think there's anything that I should add/subtract from what's in there to make the game run smoother, please send me a line! I'll totally appreciate it, since player relations starts with listening to potential and current players. As reward, please watch this and pretend that I'm saying that to you.
List of Topics:
In case the top navigation menu is just too much to handle, here is a (not-so comprehensive) list of topics that The Manhattan Project Wikipedia is going to try to tackle one entry at a time!
For Existing Players:
Hi! I don't want you to be afraid of editing this sucker, but I do want you to do it judiciously and with some of these guidelines in mind:
- Since I'm a hater, I've made it mandatory for any interested MP Wiki editor to sign up for a Wikidot account and request membership on The Manhattan Project Wikipedia before you edit the site! It's pretty damn easy to join, no lie, and this prevents any 5w337 h4x0rz from doing some serious Wiki graffiti. (Although if anyone ever wanted to? Dude, that's sad.) Anyway, just make an account and then contact the moderator so that she can invite you to be a member of the site! Seriously, does that sound hard? Not in the slightest!
- Always link your page to the next page up! E.g.: if I have a page about Neighborhoods, I would want to directly link it at the bottom to Culture and Lifestyle. For an example as to how to do this, please see the bottom of the Premise page.
- If you make a new page that is directly nested underneath Concept, History, Culture and Lifestyle, Play, or OOC, please put a subsequent link in the top navigation menu, which is accessed by editing a page called 'nav:top'. It's pretty self-explanatory once you get there, but if you have any questions, ask the mod!
- Other than that, GO CRAZY! Seriously, I can undo any shit you might fuck up, so alles es gutes!
